Orta

Last Saturday I was in Italy taking part in the Lake Orta Challenge – coxing Quintin 8 on the Saturday and rowing as MAA in my 1x on the Sunday. This was our first trip to this event and I very much hope it won’t be the last – it was awesome, if rather daunting in the 1x.  The race was a 6km trip around the middle one of the lesser known (and stunning) Italian lakes and the sculling race was a mass start of 128 of us – young men at the front and old women at the back and a thrash (literally) to the first mark some 2km out in the lake. Apologies for self publicity but wins in my 1x are (very) rare and I was very chuffed to win WG1x – training on a Tideway full of coaching launches proving very useful on a large and busy lake.

Weybridge Silver Sculls

Huge congratulations to Daisy and Anna for two fantastic results on Saturday. First the two of them, racing in Masters D, were the fastest 2x out of ALL the senior women’s crews and then Daisy repeated this in her 1x – winning the Houghton Cup. Well done both!
