4 Pennants for MAABC

A busy club weekend and some great results.Stand out performance from Saturday’s Fours Head was the 4x of Rebecca, Jen, Katy B and Jade - who came 4th out of 23 crews in Women’s Club 4x. The other 4x and the 4- also finished in fast times and confirmed this year’s squad is making very good progress.Sunday saw a large turn out of club Masters crews in the oldies race, with Rebecca and Katy racing again, this time with Claire and Tina (friend from Boston) to easily win WB4x. Another head – another MAA pennant

Congratulations Jen Bailey and Katy Brooks, who won the Intermediate 2x pennant by 5 secs over TSS in today’s pairs head. They were the third fastest women’s crew overall - beaten only by Leander and Reading University Championship doubles. No hoped-for Masters pennants - Kat and Caroline produced a very fast time in Masters E2x but lost out to a Henley crew. There was a great atmosphere at the club - on the beach beforehand and on the balcony afterwards. A great advert to visiting clubs. MAA win Novice pennant in Scullers Head

Many congratulations to Jen Bailey, who successfully negotiated some challenging conditions to finish in a time of 25 min 34 secs and win the Women’s Novice pennant by 49 seconds. Jen was greeted back to the shore by jubilant squad mates and appropriately showered in bubbly. The boat Jen used, a near 20 year old empacher, was donated to the club by the widow of former club coach Geoffrey Potts, who himself had raced very successfully in that boat for many years. Head Coach Vacancy

Mortlake Anglian & Alpha Boat Club are seeking a new head coach for next season, to build on this year’s successes of qualifying three crews including an eight for Henley Women’s Regatta and wins at other regattas. This is a good opportunity for someone to build a rowing coaching career. MAA has a top class fleet of boats and significant club support. Hours flexible/negotiable but to include Saturday and Sunday mornings. Private coaching opportunities are likely to be available. Tideway knowledge is preferred, ability to drive a launch essential. Borne at Chiswick Bridge Regatta 2022

Entries are now open on BROE for this year’s Borne at Chiswick Bridge Regatta which will take place on Saturday 7 May 2022. Racing takes place over 1000m from a free start between Chiswick Bridge and Kew Rail Bridge. Entries close at 5pm on Sunday 1 May. Draw to take place on Monday 2 May. Hello everyone, We are all looking forward to the club opening up on Monday 29th March. This message is to remind you of the precautions we all need to take to protect ourselves and each other. They are based on the guidelines of our governing body and then customised to meet our local environment conditions at the club. Please read this right through before you return to the club.
