5 wins for MAA at Twickenham Regatta

A glorious day of sunshine and racing at Twickenham Regatta concluded with a string of MAA wins. Congratulations to the Women’s 2- of Jen and Katy, the Women’s 2x of Fran and Hannah, the Women’s Masters D2x of Anna and Jo, Miranda in Women’s E1x (her third successive win of the season) and the composite Masters G8 with Lee, Rob, Dave, Ian and Steve on board  - who were all comprehensive winners of their events. It was great fun to watch!

Roy Lendrum – RIP

Roy Lendrum, one of our long-standing Honorary Vice-Presidents, passed last Wednesday following a period of ill health culminating in pneumonia, whilst under treatment in Northwick Park Hospital. Roy had been unable to attend the club again after celebrating his 85th birthday, together with John Hart and John (Tub) Bryant whose birthday it was too (as in picture below) and had been pretty well house bound for the last five years, being looked after at home by his younger brother, Colin. First regatta win of the season

Congratulations to Miranda who battled standing waves by Hammersmith Bridge to win Women’s Masters D/E 1x at Hammersmith Regatta on Saturday.This coming Saturday is Chiswick Regatta - alas the only club entry of Miranda was rejected as the regatta was massively over subscribed.Entries are still open for Borne Regatta on the extra bank holiday of Monday 8th May.

Four pennants at Bedford Spring Head

  James took a trailer of smaller boats up to Bedford yesterday to race through the many bridges there. The format of the event, with multiple divisions over a relatively short course, allowed for lots of doubling up and the girls will have known the bridges well by the end of the day.   Lots of excellent results - too many to list here but the 4x of Rebecca, Katy B, Jen and Jade won Band 1 4x, Fran and Katie B won Band 2 2x, Katie R and Sophie LW won Band 3 2x and Katy B and Jen [...]
