The Masters Women’s squad had yet another good day of racing at Marlow Regatta, held at Eton Dorney on Sunday 16th June. Following on from their success at British National Masters, Laura Campbell, Chrissie Greenhalgh, Anna Ramsden & Jo Gapper competed in straight finals at both WMas C IM3 4x and WMas C 4x. The MAA crew finished ahead of Wallingford and Ardingly to win the IM3 event and, then improving on their previous times at Nottingham, gained a convincing win against Falcon in the championship level race. The girls received medals for both the events and were awarded the Iris Lakovic Cup for the WMas C 4x event.
Also, with much enthusiasm, Louise Pattison and Alice Poole entered WMas D IM3 2x, having relished the multilane racing experience of British National Masters. Despite having to compete in a younger age group, these WMas E Novice racers remained with the pack finishing in 4th position and were delighted to have finished 4 seconds ahead of the other WMas E crew in this straight finals race. This was also the first time Louise found herself racing at the same regatta as her daughter, Laura, who was racing in a Novice 4+ for Parrs Priory!
Lisa Kallal, from the Senior Women’s squad, also raced at the event, competing in a straight final in her single scull at W MasB. Lisa achieved 2nd placing to a TSS sculler, coming in well ahead of the 3rd place sculler from Cardiff City.
Once again, many thanks to the support of the Masters Women’s coach, Ben Papworth for his support throughout the days racing.
