Pairs Head presentation

The Pairs head presentation was held at Barnes Bridge Ladies Boat Club on Sunday 19 October.  The pots and trophies were presented by Olympic medalist Debbie Flood. Anna, Kat, Laura and Caroline were there to receive their pots and plaques for WB2x and WD2x. Fran Rawlins who used to row for MAABC and now rows for Leander was awarded The Amy Gentry Trophy together with Debbie Flood for the fastest women's double scull.  Fran also won this trophy last year. 5 wins at Weybrigde Silver Sculls Saturday 18 October

12 athletes from MAABC raced at Weybridge Silver Sculls on Saturday 18 October and had a very successful day coming away with 5 wins! Anna Ramsden and Katarina Rolfsman won WB2x, with Anna also winning WB1x.  Chris Greenhalgh won WC1x.  WD2x was won by Caroline Bell-Syer and Laura Campbell  which was also the fasters women's double on the day, and to finish it off Caroline also won WD1x! BritChamps results

The British Championships in Nottingham was held on one of the windiest weekends of the year. The tail end of  Hurricane Gonzalo created some very difficult conditions on both days. On Saturday 18 October Annabel Headley and Emily Walters competed in W2x and came 39th in the time trial, this placed them in the G/H semi final where they came 2nd.   They then finished 3rd in the G final. British Championships, Nottingham 18-19 October

Four athletes are representing MAABC at the British Championships in Nottingham 18-19 October.  Racing against the GB squad and the best crews in the country. Emily Walters and Annabel Headley are competing in W2X in race 102 at 10.05 on Saturday 18th.  There are 25 crews in the division. On Sunday Emily and Annabel are joined by Beks Edgar and Caris Marsh to race in W4X in race 203 at 09.45. Race well girls, the whole club is cheering you on,  GO MORTLAKE!!!!!

Mortlake veterans trip to Caen

On the night of 5th June 1944, a unit of the British 6th Airborne Division took off from Dorset in gliders to capture Pegasus Bride over the Orne River just north of Caen.  The attackers poured out of their gliders surprising the German defenders and took the bridge within 10 minutes.  This was the beginning what is now famously known as D-Day and the eventual liberation of Europe seventy years ago.  The events were also narrated as a film in The Longest Day. Three wins at the Pairs Head

MAABC had yet another successful year at the Pairs Head, winning three pennants, one of which we share with our neighbours QBC. We had strong performances from many sections of the club. Beks Edgar and Caris Marsh were the fastest womens double from the club and finished 2nd in their category.  Annabel Headley and Emily Walters finished 3rd  in their category of 21,  followed by Lora Garrod and Dani Charles who finished 6th in the same category. The three wins came from the Masters,  Anna Ramsden & Katarina Rolfsman won the WMasB 2x pennant, Caroline Bell-Syer & Laura Campell won the WMasD2x pennant [...]
