Subscription renewal 2010
The annual subscription rate for full membership is £360 per year

Subscriptions for membership are due on 1st January 2010 and should be paid by the end of the January at the latest. Submission of the renewal form is mandatory for reapplication of membership. Membership is deemed to lapse if both payment and this form is not received by 28th February, 2010.

Members who lapse their subscription will be required to reapply and be re-elected as members. (using the Membership application form below).

Any member who was a member in 2009 and failed to renew their subscription by January 31st will be liable for a late payment fee of 5% per month (accumulating basis). This applies to late payers and lapsed members (anyone who was a member in 2009).

Racking is only available to members.
The subscriptions year runs from January to December.

Flexible payment for 2010
Flexible payment is available for the first time this year, but only by the cheque method of payment and ALL cheques (appropriately dated and signed) MUST be submitted at the time of renewal. If all cheques are not submitted at this time then the renewal request will be INVALID and membership will NOT be renewed.

Members may choose how many months/cheques to pay over, but all cheques should be of the same value:
- pay over 2 months then 2 cheques of £180 should be issued (1 for Jan, 1 for Feb)
- pay over 3 months then 3 cheques of £120 (1 for each of Jan, Feb and March)
- pay over 4 months then 4 cheques of £90 (1 for each of Jan, Feb, March & April).

If you have a sculling boat rack then you should divide the whole amount evenly.

How to join MAABC

If you already know which group you fit into, read on here for application details, otherwise look at our squads and coaching page, to see how the club is structured. We have a home for most rowers from beginners to international aspirants and back to those who enjoy a sociable paddle.

Potential new members (active rowers not beginners) must fill in a View PDF file Membership application form. This must be done before going out on the water (or using gym equipment). The form includes contact details and the signed declaration that the individual is healthy and can swim 100m. It covers our insurance. If you are using our equipment without doing this, you are probably not insured!

Potential members are then welcome to trial any activities for a month without any obligation or cost. The membership form should be put on the Secretary's noticeboard in the Lawson Room.

After a month, to convert this to full membership application, just ask two club members to propose and second your application, by signing your form. The completed form should be moved to the left on the right hand side of the board. You should arrange payment with the Treasurer. A cheque for the correct amount (see table for amount), with your name and what it is payment for, is the best way, or give the payment to any of the authorised people (see list below).

Our Rules state that your application form should be on display in the Clubhouse for 14 days prior to being considered at a Committee Meeting (first Wednesday of each month).

At the next committee meeting your application will be considered for membership. You must be a member to race for us!

Month of joining Amount
February £330
March £300
April £270
May £240
June £210
July £180
August £150
September £120
October £90
November £60
December £30

Racking rates can also be calculated using the table at the top of the page and the number of months until the end of the year

Beginners courses
MAABC is proud of it's tradition of teaching complete beginners to row. Please see our squads and coaching page for more details. Courses are run about four times a year. To register your interest for the next course, please email Chris Drake. Beginners are charged a flat fee for the course (£120) and can then choose to join the club at the end of the course. They then pay subscriptions pro-rata for the remaining months of the year until December. (see table above).

Information for Members
All new members are sent a copy of this information pack, containing essential information about the club. All members should ensure they have read the club rules.
